Dental Bonding Procedures in Milton
Dental bonding is a commonly recommended alternative to porcelain veneers. Bonding can be used as a restorative procedure for teeth that are chipped, cracked, discolored or misarranged, and is an alternative to veneers.
How Does Bonding Work?
Bonding is a standard cosmetic procedure that our dentists perform as a veneer alternative to perfecting teeth. A plastic resin material is used to help give your damaged or discolored tooth a healthier and more natural appearance. Initially the procedure begins with a light etching of the tooth that is to be bonded. Then a type of liquid is applied to the tooth and the resin is placed on the tooth and sculpted to fit the shape of the remaining teeth.
Things to Consider with Dental Bonding
The bonding procedure can often be completed in a single office visit, and can improve the appearance of a tooth significantly. However, since the plastic resin used is not as strong as your natural tooth enamel, it is more likely to stain, chip or break than natural teeth. Bonding typically lasts three to five years before repair is needed.
